Doctor David Sinclair is a professor in the Department of Genetics at Harvard Medical School. He’s well known for his work on understanding how humans age and how to slow its effects. His early research focused on sirtuins, protein-modifying enzymes that respond to changing NAD+ levels and calory restriction, but his interests also span epigenetics, energy metabolism, learning and memory, neurodegeneration, mitochondria and cancer.

- Yoghurt: David Sinclair adds white resveratrol powder, olive oil, probiotics and NMN to a little bit of yoghurt before breakfast to get his polyphenols in each day.
- Water: He starts his day wat hot water and lemon.
- Green Matcha Tea: This is David Sinclair’s caffeine source, which is full of polyphenols like ECGC catechins.
- Intermittent Fasting: David Sinclair incorporates 16:8 intermittent fasting into his daily routine. This means getting all his nutrition and calories in a certain window and then not eating a large meal for about 16 to 18 hours. He has mentioned following a monthly five-day calorie restriction of only 1100 calories per day, predominantly eating plant-based, low-carb, low-protein and high healthy fat foods.
- Snacking: If peckish, David Sinclair will eat a little bit of 80 per cent chocolate or some nuts.
- Skipping Lunch: Most days he skips lunch, although maybe once or twice a week he eats a small salad.
- Dinner: He eats minimal sugar and starchy foods, instead eating light and healthy plant-based meals. Often, this includes a plant-based, nut-based dinner with rice, almonds, couscous or crushed cassava.
Longevity is not only about supplements and diet, which Dr. Sinclair also mentions. Here are some other factors that go into his longevity routine:
- Sleep: Sleeps at least six hours each night, aiming for seven to eight, as well as sleeps in a bed that adjusts his body temperature.
- Morning: Rinses his mouth with coconut oil each morning and then brushes his teeth with non-toxic toothpaste.
- Work: Works at a standing desk and does his best to avoid sitting.
- Diet: Avoids alcohol and dairy.
- Exercise: Tries to do a weight-lifting routine three times a week as well as a daily run (or walk if he doesn’t have the energy). He practices cold therapy after exercise.
- Stress: He meditates to reduce his stress.
- Tracking: David Sinclair frequently has blood tests and tracks his glucose levels, steps and sleep so he can understand what’s happening in his body.
