Improve Longevity with the National Steps Challenge™

Singapore’s National Steps Challenge™ is rewarding participants simply by walking every day.

For every step and moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA) minute taken, Singaporeans, permanent residents with a valid NRIC and foreigners with a valid FIN aged 17 years or older will receive Healthpoints.

At least 10 minutes of MVPA continuously per session must be made for MVPA points to be clocked, with 10–19 minutes, 20–29 minutes and 30 minutes and more giving 10, 15 and 20 (max) points respectively.

For steps, 5000 and more will give 10 (max) per day, with 30 Healthpoints able to be earned per day in the Challenge.

From now until 21 April 2024, all participants of the National Steps Challenge™ will earn 300 bonus Healthpoints after clocking 1,000 steps within a day for the first time.

Download the Healthy 365 app to check if you are eligible to collect a new fitness tracker and to redeem your Healthpoints via the rewards catalogue (more here).

Other than Healthpoints, the challenge aims to help participants feel good and stay healthier.

At least 150 minutes of MVPA per week can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve balance and flexibility, reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and certain cancers, improve sleep quality, strengthen bones, muscles and joints, and control and maintain a healthy weight.

The initiative began in November 2015 as a seasonal event, with rewards added in October 2018, and from 20 September 2023, eligible Healthy 365 users have been automatically enrolled in the challenge.

Other than the HPB National Steps Challenge™, Health Hub has also curated workouts to help individuals get moving, found here.
