Is Magnesium Glycinate Safe?

Is it safe to take magnesium glycinate every day?

Magnesium glycinate is generally safe to take each day, even if your levels are adequate, as any excess will be excreted from your kidneys.

Is magnesium glycinate safe during pregnancy?

Yes, and pregnant women actually need more magnesium than normal when pregnant, but make sure to speak with your doctor before taking any supplements when pregnant. Compared to the recommended daily dosages for women above, when pregnant, the recommended dosages are:

  • 14 to 18 years old: 400mg per day, 360mg when breastfeeding
  • 19 to 30 years old: 350mg per day, 310mg when breastfeeding
  • 31 to 50 years old: 360mg per day, 320mg when breastfeeding
